Jurgen Klopp will arrive at Liverpool within 48 hours

The former Borussia Dortmund coach has been installed as the favourite to succeed Brendan Rodgers, who was sacked in the wake of Sunday’s 1-1 draw in the Merseyside Derby.

Liverpool’s move to bring in Jurgen Klopp as Brendan Rodgers’ successor has moved a step closer with a rival candidate, Frank de Boer, having ruled out the possibility of moving from Ajax to Anfield.

By then Liverpool hope to have had Klopp in position for long enough to have been able to make proper preparations for his Premier League debut.

Negotiations are being conducted by Ian Ayre with the Liverpool chief executive liaising closely with Boston-based owners John W Henry, Tom Werner and Mike Gordon.

Klopp, 48, is now out of work and enjoying a sabbatical following his decision to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season, but he has previously divulged a desire to manage in England and put no timescale on his time away from the game.

Klopp is set to bring with him two members of his backroom staff from his time at Dortmund – Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz. “But Klopp is a much better fit for the FSG model”.

“Reading the CVs and what they have done and where they have done it and how many times they have done it, it is a no-brainer really“, he told talkSPORT. “He would be the ideal solution for me”, said former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann on German Sky Sports on Monday.

Klopp’s record at Dortmund includes Bundesliga titles in both 2011 and 2012, the year they won the domestic double after routing Bayern Munich 5-2 in the German Cup final when Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick against his future employers.

“He gave me this answer a couple of weeks ago”. “This would be a challenge for Jürgen Klopp: to build a new team and to create something new. This could be Liverpool, right?” he said.

Former Bayer Leverkusen coach Christoph Daum sees no such problem and feels Klopp’s infectious positivity will ensure he gets his motivational messages across.

“I think Jurgen Klopp is capable of helping out a lot of the top clubs in the world”.

“The emotions in Liverpool need to be awakened”.

“The people have lost faith in the team and it is important that someone comes who rouses the people again and gets things going”.
