Carmelo Anthony: Carmelo Anthony will not ask for a trade now

Having a “Big Three” with a scoring forward, defensive center and a cerebral point guard is a textbook basketball roster as Rant Sports noted: “Names like the Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies come to mind initially as franchises that could easily win a ring if they were able to acquire Anthony”. He went on to say the narrative that he angled for a trade following the Knicks’ selection of Kristaps Porzingis in June “bothered him” this summer.

“Without a doubt. Without a doubt”, Anthony told reporters when asked if he can continue playing at a high level.

“There’s a long list (of rumors)”. “If I was a guy who kind of played above the rim and played at a fast pace and just running and jumping – that was my game, very athletic – then I’d probably be sitting here singing a different tune”.

“I don’t even need to speak to Phil about plans and everything that ” s going on”, Anthony said.

“At first it’s like I know it’s not true, it’s stupid”. You gotta walk around and gotta hear people fans are asking me. “So things like that starts to get overwhelming at times”.

They have missed the playoffs the past two seasons – the only two times Anthony didn’t qualify in his 12-year career – and were a franchise-worst 17-65 last season. Porzingis has plenty of upside, but the worry is by the time his potential is realized, the 31-year-old Anthony will be well past his prime.

“In any free agency you always try to shoot for the cream of the crop”, Anthony said.

“This is part of the plan, ” Anthony added. “Having versatility is a good thing”.

Coming off of a 17-win season, the Knicks didn’t land the stars that they’d hoped to in free agency. Then there’s another tier you go to when things don’t go your way. “Like I said before, I think they did a great job of putting this group together”.

Anthony and Jackson didn’t speak about the Knicks’ free-agent acquisitions in July during the recruiting period.

Citing MovieNewsGuide.com, the recent from the rumor mill tells of a trading plan that would solidify Phil Jackson’s, the NY Knicks president, resolution to enter the new season with a totally renewed line-up. Just every day it was another team that I was going to be traded to. “So it wasn’t about the draft pick”. “I knew the direction the team was going in already based off conversations we had previous to the draft”. At that point, I didn’t have to have a conversation for Phil to [explain] every little thing going on.
