One Militant Killed, Search Operation on in J&K’s Kupwara District
Two terrorists of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit were today killed in an encounter with security forces in Awantipur area of south Kashmir, police said.

Aijaz Bhat, SP of Kupwara district, said, “upon getting an information from the nearby forest area about the militant’s presence, the army launched a cordon and search operation”.
Two major operations against militants in north Kashmir have left three army men and one militant dead so far. On August 27, another terrorist was captured alive from in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district during an encounter between militants and Indian forces. Earlier reports had said three jawans were killed and a fourth was missing.
The encounter started between militants and army’s 28 RR and 9 PARA at around 11:30 pm last night.
Around midnight, as the security forces approached the suspected area where the terrorists were reportedly hiding, they came under heavy fire, in which four soldiers were killed.
“The army soldier who sustained a gunshot wound was immediately evacuated and his condition is reported to be stable”, Indian military spokesman Col. N N Joshi said. Sources said he had been active in the area for the past two years.
“Pathan, who infiltrated from Pakistan into India in 2012, moved to Tral from Lolab in 2013”.

One Army personnel was also injured in the gunbattle in which Adil and Chote were killed.
