“Oak Island is still a safe place”, Oak Island town manager, Tim Holloman said, noting that Brunswick County’s boat, Marine One, and helicopter, Air One, will be in the area, according to the Wilmington Star-News.

Wallace went on to say that the two separate beaches may not have been covered by the same evacuation order.
Mayor Wallace said she had no details about the circumstances of either attack, and didn’t know how far from shore either teenager had been, or what they had been doing in the water.
Calls to emergency responders following two shark attacks on the same North Carolina beach on Sunday reveal the shock and panic at the scene. With a time gap of a tiny over an hour, the two attacks left beachgoers stunned and scared for their safety.
Treschl lost his left arm. While the girl had lower left leg tissue damage, Martha Harlan, spokeswoman of the hospital, said there is no news if the leg needs an amputation. He said at the very least, officials should enforce a buffer so people were not swimming in the same water fisherman were throwing chum into that attracts sharks. She says after the second attack swimmers were warned to get out.
Many people were staying out of the water on Monday, said Lori small, of Claremont, N.C., who was vacationing with her husband.
“When something like this happens, everyone is on edge, but this is the first time in memory we’ve had an occurrence of this sort”, Oak Island Mayor Betty Wallace told the Associated Press.
The girl was carried out of the water bleeding heavily, and bystanders managed to apply a tourniquet to stem the bleeding, while asking her questions to make sure she stayed conscious.
It was “quite nightmarish”, vacationer Steve Bouser told AP. “It was quite terrible”, Bouser said.
The first shark bite was called in at 4:12 p.m. near the Ocean Crest Motel.
Authorities can’t confirm if the same shark was responsible for both maulings. Both are barrier islands just off the mainland.
By 11:30 p.m., the two were in fair condition after the girl had her left arm cut below the elbow and below the shoulder for the boy.
Both victims, who remained unnamed Monday, underwent emergency surgery and were hospitalized in stable condition. The museum’s numbers revealed that since 2005, there have been 25 shark attacks, with none of them being fatal.
It was unclear whether the same shark attacked them.
A witness who saw the boy’s injury occur said that the shark jumped right out of the water and attacked.
As North Carolina beaches head into the busiest season, it’s important for visitors to be aware that with the joys in connecting with nature there are hazards.
