Could the 80-yard touchdown pass in overtime propel the Saints b

The Saints won the toss, ran two plays and on an 80 yard catch and run from Drew Brees to C.J Spiller, it was over and the Saints got their first win of the season.

New Orleans signed Spiller as a prize free-agent acquisition, theoretically a flawless fit in a Saints offense that seemed to fit Spiller’s unique talents better than any of the offenses for which he’d toiled in Buffalo. Willie Snead caught six balls for 89 yards, while Spiller had five receptions for 99 yards.

They were forced to do it without Andrew Luck, but the Colts scraped out a win against the Jaguars.

Completing 33 of his 41 passes for 359 yards, Brees saved his real magic for the final play of the game – minutes after kicker Zach Hocker clanked the potential game-winning field goal off the upright, sending the game into overtime.

The pass rush was impressive early, but fizzled in the second half.

October 4, 2015; New Orleans, LA, US; New Orleans Saints outside linebacker Hau’oli Kikaha (44) tackles Dallas Cowboys running back Darren McFadden (20) during the second half at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

With so many injuries, the Cowboys needed their defense, themselves depleted, to hold down the fort. When that unit unable to slow down Brees when it mattered most, the offense just couldn’t keep up. Yes, Brees is back from the shoulder injury that caused him to sit out the first meaningful game of his time in New Orleans, but he’s still 36 years old and without the weapons he once had. Saints QB Drew Brees reached the 5,000 career completion mark.

He then started next week’s game against the Falcons by completing his first nine pass attempts.

It would be easy to dissect this game and pin blame on different players, coaches or even the refs (I’ll never blame the refs, but they were horrible). He finished with a team-high 99 yards while three other Saints pass-catchers (Brandon Coleman, Willie Snead, Benjamin Watson) recorded catches of 20 yards or more.

The New York Jets piled up the yards, both good and bad, and got the win it came for. “He’s one of those guys who works very hard at it and I think you see him grow and develop as a player”.

However, an injury to Gachkar on the first play of overtime resulted in confusion before the snap on second down, and ultimately, Wilson trailed a wide-open C.J. Spiller on the way to the end zone for the running back’s walk-off touchdown.

Despite noticeably missing from the stat sheet, Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Tyrone Crawford still made an impact Sunday against the New Orleans Saints. Christine Michael got his first carry as a Cowboy on a 3rd-and-1 situation in the second half and was hit in the backfield for a loss of one after the right side of the offensive line collapsed. Brandon Weeden led the Cowboys down the field on a nice drive to tie it up with a 17-yard pass to Terrance Williams.

“We play aggressive, so a few of that’s going to happen”, Jets linebacker Calvin Pace said.

Joseph Randle had a 1-yard TD run for Dallas (2-2), which failed to win what would have been an 11th-straight road game in regulation.

Even Kaepernick at his best would be at a disadvantage against a red-hot Aaron Rodgers, and this could finally be the game where the team from Green Bay conquers the kid from Milwaukee.

Coach Sean Payton said, “I though early on he got hit a little too much for my liking”.
