Everything We Think We’ll See At Microsoft’s Tuesday Event

Last but not least, the news that Windows Phone users will probably be the most excited about: Microsoft could finally be telling us when Windows 10 will be rolled out to smartphones.

As you might have heard, Microsoft is holding a Windows 10 devices launch event on 6 October where it is expected to announce the Surface Pro 4, Lumia 950 smartphones and a new wearable. In order to snap images and selfies more comfortably, there is also a dedicated camera button present on both Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. The company has also incorporated a new tab preview feature in the Edge browser.

A few leaks have previously suggested a removable battery for the Lumia 950 XL (as included in our comparison of the phone against the iPhone 6S Plus).

They also support Qi wireless charging, include USB Type-C ports. The smaller 950 should have a 5.2-inch 2560 x 1440 565 ppi display, 3000mAh battery and will run on a hexa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chip. Windows Central reports that the Lumia 950 will come in matte white or black polycarbonate, sport a 20-megapixel rear facing camera and have 32 gigabytes of internal storage which can be expanded to 2 terabytes. The company hopes to thus increase the potential of the device being used as a PC substitute, thanks to its Microsoft Office App platform.

On the official Lumia Twitter, an image has recently been posted showing a woman speaking to Cortana on a Lumia device that does not look like any of the now known models.

In the midst of all that announcing, Microsoft dropped a subtle burn on Apple that you might’ve missed. These different versions will share a typical Windows core and a regular Windows Store, which is an increasing series of development resources and various distributed user interface features.

But the biggest news is the software.

One the new Surface Pro, storage goes all the way up to 1TB and you can get as much as 16GB of memory, but, of course, that’s going to cost quite a bit.

Starting price for the Surface Book is $1,499, and will be available in stores starting October 26th.
