Nellie Fitzpatrick, from the mayors workplace, tells FOX 29 there have been 21 transgender people murdered…
“She was known to the LGBTQ community as a transgender individual”, the spokeswoman said.
There have been at least 20 transgender women killed in the United States so far this year, according to an August report by Fusion.
She was taken to Einstein Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Advocates have expressed dissatisfaction with the way her case was handled.
“This is evidence that more advocacy is needed”.
A transgender woman was beaten and shot to death, but authorities said it was too early in their investigation to tell whether it might have been a hate crime.
