“If I was Rita, I’d be thinking about who I’m going to be swapping out”.

What did you think of Simon’s angry outburst last night? “The crowd did not like that decision”, host Olly Murs commented.

The first to take on the dreaded Six-Chair Challenge Rita too faced the wrath of the crowd as she whittled her auditionees to six ahead of judge’s houses.

The X Factor will be shown on ITV1 and ITV1 HD tonight from 7pm.

Fresh from crowning Max and Jess winners of i Love Island /i Caz Flack got her (very good) legs out in a leather mini and hipster Bella Freud knit. But Katie Coleman’s performance of Christina Aguilera’s “The Voice Within” managed to cause a spat between Ora and fellow judge Simon Cowell. The barmaid from St Helens chose to belt out I Will Always Love You at the Six Chair Challenge, emotionally dedicating the song to her late mother.

The X Factor continues this Sunday night with the next round of the six chair challenge as the Overs, Groups and Boys all go before the panel and audience in a bid to make it through to judges’ houses in their respective categories.

Lauren impressed Rita following her rendition of Jessie Ware’s Say You Love Me. However, he clarified his statement: “Not one of those”.

As the audiences boos in response, Rita Ora turned on Cowell, saying: “That was just rude”.

“I’m so sorry”, Ora told Mav, who had started crying after she was unseated.

Back in series four, 15-year-old Emily Nakanda was one of the early favourites to win the show, but had to back out, after a video emerged showing her violently attacking another teenage girl.

Meanwhile, Lauren has insisted she and the rest of the girls category are thrilled to have Rita as their mentor, despite Monica Michael previously admitting she would’ve preferred to have had Simon Cowell.

“Rita didn’t see me when I was on the show let year so it did occur to me that she wouldn’t know how much I’ve grown – whereas Simon would have”.

Monica joins Lauren, Chloe Page, Havva Rebke, Kiera Weathers and Louisa Johnson who will now battle it out at Rita’s judges’ homes round in LA for a place in the live finals.

As Caroline explained, in an X Factor first, this year viewers voted on which judge would land which category, but boss Simon Cowell was distinctly unhappy to learn he would be mentoring the Overs.
