Google Translate is coming to (some) Android apps

And it does feel that Google isn’t pushing it as strongly as it did for Android 5.0.

If you happen to have an Android 6.0-running device now, a Nexus maybe, you can check out this the hidden easter egg by going to your phone Settings About phone Android version Android 6.0. “Switching back and forth between apps and screens to translate shouldn’t be another one”.

The only time this wont work is if the developer implemented their own custom text selection behavior. The feature works by selecting text within an app. Once you’ve done that, you’ll see a “Translate” button next to the usual Copy, Paste, Share, etc.

The new software lets Android users translate text within apps – you don’t need to leave the page you’re looking at. Users can choose from a group of 90 languages, but tech analysts admit that the program is not completely flawless. Google, however, guarantees that efforts are being made to reduce their presence as much as possible.

Google says popular apps including TripAdvisor, WhatsApp, and LinkedIn are already supported.

Because of this, many believe that Google still has a long way to go in providing an even more eye-catching innovative feature.

It’s also worth mentioning that this data has been gathered from the new Google Play Store app, which supports Android 2.2 and above, so devices powered by older versions are not included.

And for devs that use their own text selection code, Google offered instructions (just a few lines of code) to add the feature manually.
