Coach Butch Jones: Alton ‘Pig’ Howard Dismissed from Tennessee Volunteer
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Tennessee wide receiver Alton “Pig” Howard has been dismissed from the team for a violation of unspecified team rules.

Jones said Howard’s dismissal was not injury-related. Howard was suspended for the season-opener against Bowling Green & missed the last two contests accidents, together with a concussion. “We have high expectations for our football program”.
The on and off again relationship between Tennessee football and Pig Howard has ended.
The Vols have been without two receivers (Jason Croom and Vincent Perry) for the entire season, and Johnathon Johnson and Marquez North have been limited or missed games this season.
The loss of Howard probably won’t have a lot of affect on the field against Georgia, but the continued stream of distractions, along with fan and alumni disappointment reaching critical levels, could prove to be a big problem against a ranked team coming in after being spanked by Alabama.
Tennessee (2-3, 0-2 SEC) is hosting the 19th-ranked Bulldogs (4-1, 1-1) on Saturday. We talk about it every week. He hasn’t been present most of this season, but a team losing its leading returning receiver will force other playmakers to step up in an effort to get this program back on track.
Jones and a few of his players will address reporters before Wednesday’s practice.

Starting right tackle Brett Kendrick has been limited this week in practice, and his status for Saturday’s game against Georgia is “ongoing”, Jones said.
