AAA Northeast’s latest price survey released Monday found self-serve, regular selling for an average of $2.14 per gallon, the same as last week. The national average is $2.290.
On Monday, the price of regular gas in Broward County averaged $2.29 per gallon, up by 2 cents from last week and down 10 cents from a month ago.
These prices are more than 67 cents lower than what they were a year ago, and more than 35 cents lower than last month, when what GasBuddy experts called a “perfect storm” of nonexistent imports and a February refinery fire at ExxonMobil’s Torrance plant skyrocketed prices to well above $4 a gallon at Coachella Valley stations. Find the lowest in your area at gasbuddy.com. It was $1.06 per gallon cheaper than a year earlier. By comparison, the average price of gas in September 2014 was $3.39 per gallon.

China is the world’s largest oil importer, and the downturn in its economy has raised questions about the country’s future oil demand. It noted that US prices have declined in October four of the past five years.
