Phil Spencer says background music feature is coming

The disclosure by Hryb came while detailing of a few new features of the New Xbox One Experience (NXOE) in the blog post. Back in June, Microsoft announced the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller – a custom controller with removable parts. Now it arrives on Xbox One as a timed exclusive, but can such an in-depth experience genuinely translate to a home console?

Nelson, stated that the beta testers will be given the opportunity to have their hands dirty with Cortana on their Xbox “later this year” when Microsoft rolls it out via the Xbox One experience preview program. At a price of £129, it wasn’t exactly a cheap way to get access to the feature.

For each profile you create in the app, you can make the paddles, buttons, analogue sticks and triggers behave the way you want them to. While it remains unclear whether or not users would be able to play background music while playing games, the feature will be available in the main menu, or when engaging in tasks such as web browsing. Over the summer the Sony PS4 topped the Xbox One in sales.

In other Xbox One news, Microsoft on Friday wrapped up its week of bundles with perhaps the most exciting offering yet: the Xbox One Fallout 4 bundle.

When asked about the feature on Twitter recently, Xbox head Phil Spencer addressed the issue once again, explaining that “this one is just a prioritization thing with other work”. This move of Microsoft would surely give pro-gamers a leg-up on certain competitions which requires various button combinations. Apart from configurable buttons, the Elite controller is nearly modular in design.

Microsoft has now released a number of updates for the Xbox app for Windows 10.
