Woman With Concealed License Permit Opens Fire On Shoplifting Suspect

Police say two suspected shoplifters were chased after leaving a Home Depot on Joslyn near I-75 in Auburn Hills about 2 p.m. Tuesday. Police posted security camera footage on their Facebook page, prompting comments like, “this police department seems to be amazingly confused on which crime actually matters”.

The Detroit Free Press, who originally reported on the incident, talked to several area firearms instructors who uniformly disapproved of the parking lot shooting.

When the SUV began to pull away, the concealed pistol license holder, a 48-year-old woman from nearby Clarkston, Mich., suddenly began firing shots at the fleeing vehicle. The alleged shoplifter is said to have jumped into a waiting vehicle to make a getaway.

The Home Depot shoplifting suspect is described as an African American man in his 40’s.

Police still are seeking to identify the suspects. Ector asserts that a gun is “truly a tool of last resort”.

There was no further information available about the shooter and it is not yet known if that person will face any charges, McDonnell said, adding it is known what types of items were stolen. “Even if it were law enforcement, they wouldn’t do that”.

“You are not a police officer”, Hankins said.

“I’m happy that no one was seriously injured”.

Police are on the hunt for two men who fled from a Home Depot store after one of them stole more than a thousand dollars in merchandise. Even concealed carry permit holders are feeling as though they’re getting the third degree on today’s issues involving firearms.
