Dell outs new XPS 12 2-in-1, XPS 15, revamped XPS 13

XPS 15 is the bigger of the two, and can be considered one of the only proper alternatives to a 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro. With a 30WHr battery, the XPS 12 should last up to 10 hours on a charge, according to Dell.

The floor bezel is truly the largest; located on the eventually left edge of the unit, it has the camera.

The XPS 13 possesses a nearly without boundary lines InfinityEdge present.

The XPS 15 has the same accessories as XPS 13 except that it is allied to a larger 18,000mAh Dell Power Companion. The specs are incredibly similar, and both of them are steaming hot and extremely powerful laptops.

Dell designed the XPS 15 to have almost the same footprint as a 14-inch notebook.

Which might all sound somewhat negative, but there’s a lot else to like about the XPS 12. It’s configurable with a 4K display (3,840 x 2,160 resolution), sixth-generation Intel Core processors that max out at a Core i7 quad-core, Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics with 2GB of GDDR5 RAM, up to 16GB of RAM, either a hard drive or SSD with up to 1TB of storage, and Thunderbolt 3. It also retains the premium build we’re used to on XPS notebooks, with a machined aluminum frame, carbon fiber on the palm rests, and Gorilla Glass NBT protecting the display. All of the new models will come with USB 3 with Type-C connectors, as well as a bit of battery boost.

Additionally, the XPS 15 battery life offers up to 17 hours with a FHD display, 84WHr battery and SSD. A few might also argue it competes with Microsoft’s just-announced Surface Book.

Dell’s upcoming 2-in-1 tablet, rumored to be named XPS 12, has leaked in live images, revealing the device could pose a serious threat to Microsoft’s upcoming Surface Pro 4. And the XPS 12 will start at $999. Instead, it’s a real keyboard base that Dell claims will offering a typing experience as good as its Dell Latitude business laptops. I was also impressed with the size of the trackpad, which felt fairly responsive. The hybrid features a top-end display, solid-feeling keyboard dock and it runs using one of Intel’s latest processors. It attaches to the included keyboard dock very securely using just magnets-I could lift the entire thing up by the tablet-yet detaches simply by tilting the tablet forward slightly. It said it decided the XPS 12 should play to the laptop’s strengths.

The docking slot has an interesting design-it keeps the device propped up, but you can not bend it backwards like other detachable keyboards would let you do. The XPS 12 is expected to release around January.

The keyboard is spacious and isn’t too heavy either. The Full HD display, on the other hand, makes do with just 72%, making it not the best choice if you’re involved in colour accurate work. It features UltraSharp 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) resolution option and the only 100 percent minimum Adobe RGB display on a laptop.

8MP world facing camera, 5MP user facing. These are unchanged from earlier models.

Dell isn’t exactly right calling its XPS 12 the first and only 2-in-1 device with a 4K display in the world, since the Toshiba Satellite Radius 12 already took that title.
