A potential carjacking in Baltimore has left law enforcement authorities in Anne Arundel County, Virginia, scrambling for both clues as well as a suspect. Fort Mead is the home to both the United States Cyber Command and the National Security Agency.

The man fled the scene, police said.

Police spokesman Lt. Glenn Shanahan says the auto crashed at a gate at Fort Meade and the driver ran onto the base.

There have been no reports of anyone having been hurt in the incident.

Police said they have multiple offers searching for the suspect as well as a helicopter checking the surrounding area.

“Police advise residents to stay indoors and keep windows and doors locked until all clear”, read a message posted on Facebook from Fort Meade officials.

WTTG reports that several schools are shut down Thursday as police continue to search for the suspect.
