Separately, Boko Haram Islamic extremists attacked a rural military camp in northeastern Yobe state overnight but were repulsed by troops who killed at least 100 of the insurgents, the military said.
Seven soldiers were killed and nine others injured in the fighting, which also saw troops recover arms and ammunition, including primed improvised explosive devices.
Yobe state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Toyin Gbadegesin told journalists that 18 people killed and 8 others suffered critical injuries.
The attack was reportedly carried out by three teenage boys at a mosque inside Buhari Estate.
“We equally appeal to the parents, families and friends of all those involved in Boko Haram terrorists activities to kindly persuade them to desist and renounce their membership of the terrorist organisation forthwith”.
According to the statement, the arrested terrorist has been providing the military with useful information.
At least 17 insurgents were also killed in the pre-dawn strike, Chad’s army said.
On the other hand, according to the Nigerian army said on Tuesday, that a suspected Boko Haram financier had been detained by the Nigerian army in Bama Local Government Area of Borno.
Most recently, 15 civilians were killed in a Boko Haram attack on a border village as Muslims marked the Eid al-Adha festival, shattering two months of relative calm in the area.

Boko Haram attacks have spread from northeast Nigeria, its traditional stronghold, to the neighboring countries of Chad, Niger and Cameroon. The leader of Isis, a militant group that controls parts of Syria and Iraq, however accepted the pledge of allegiance from Boko Haram, in May 2015. The group has been engaging in battles with the army at the Nigerian border since the beginning of the year.
