According to Fairfield County Sheriff Dave Phalen, Angela was trying to flee the couple’s home with their two young daughters around 9:00 p.m. when her husband was hit.
The girl told the dispatcher that her father was bleeding profusely from his head and was unconscious.
Thursday morning, Pickerington Local School District leaders made a decision to allow Angela Luke back in the classroom while the investigation continues. “And for us to determine what is acceptable behavior to get out of self defense, we need to understand the real threat and I think that we have a limited understanding of how pervasive and terrorizing domestic violence is in nature”.
“The law does not mention whether the teacher could or should be paid”, Norris said. New details emerged about the case Tuesday when the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office released the Lukes’ 12-year-old daughter’s 911 call. She said he fell off and was hit Sunday night.
Pickerington Schools Superintendent Valerie Browning-Thompson determined Wednesday afternoon that the district will reinstate pay for teacher Angela Luke.
Luke had been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide and reckless homicide in the death of her husband, Daniel A. Luke, 42.
A mother of two is no longer charged with homicide after the death of her husband, according to the Fairfield County Municipal Court. Specifically, this suspension is required because reckless homicide is on a list of the Ohio Revised Code’s “irrevocable offenses” that could result in her teaching license to be revoked.
Teacher placed on suspension: Angela Luke is a second grade teacher at Tussing Elementary in Reynoldsburg and has been employed there for at least 11 years. “As such, her friends and colleagues are understandably concerned for both her well-being and the where welfare of her children”. We are keeping them, as well as the family of Mr. Luke, in our thoughts and prayers.
