Cafu praises Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan
It’s a bold claim, and one that’s led to a lot of laughter in the bar, as Flanagan isn’t even considered to be the best full-back at Liverpool by many; who prefer England global Nathaniel Clyne.

So quite rightly, everyone should listen when he talks about who the next best full-back in world football will be.
Flanagan is still recovering from a knee injury and has not played for the Reds in a competitive game since May 2014.
Cafu first noticed the young full-backs talent during the 2013-14 season, when Liverpool launched a title challenge, with youngster Flanagan playing a crucial role at left-back, netting his first goal in the 5-0 win against Spurs.
As well as heaping praise on Flanagan, he also had good things to say about former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, as well as the club itself.
We had lunch and took a few pictures together. I am a big fan of Frank Lampard – his movement is so elegant.
Although Liverpool player Jamie Carragher has previously claimed these stories were untrue – saying “nothing [he] saw suggested Milan were already popping champagne” – Cafu has been quoted as saying Milan took their foot off the gas in the second half.
“I would have loved to play for Liverpool, Manchester United or Chelsea”, he added.

Flanagan was ruled out for around nine months back in April after an irregularity on a scan showed that surgery was needed, according to The Telegraph, and the 22-year-old could return to the fold in the New Year should his rehabilitation go to schedule.
