Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (pic) welcomes the proclamation by Malay Rulers on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) calling for the issue to be settled speedily and action taken against those found to be implicated.

The sultans of nine states said on Tuesday the government’s failure to provide convincing answers on 1MDB may have resulted in a “crisis of confidence”.
In July, the Wall Street Journal reported that investigators looking into 1MDB had identified a payment of almost $700 million into a bank account under Najib’s name.
In a statement, their royal highnesses stressed that all parties concerned should extend “real and sincere” cooperation for the investigation to achieve its objectives.
The local government, housing and urban wellbeing minister echoed Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s remark earlier that Putrajaya welcomed in good faith the contents of the statement.
“No further action would be taken in the matter”, it said.
He, like the rulers, also called for those investigating the case, like the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Royal Malaysian Police, to be given the widest possible avenues to complete their investigations.
He added that with the proclamation asking for a speedy resolution to the 1MDB issue, the Prime Minister, as the head of Government, was the appropriate party that should heed it.
“If the findings of BNM show that there is evidence to convict anyone of any offence, it is the responsibility of the Attorney-General to prosecute those involved in court”, he said. Putrajaya has taken note and welcomed the statement issued by the Conference of Malay Rulers asking for a complete investigation into the 1MDB controversy, Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said today.
Now that the royals had called for a thorough investigation, he said, there was no longer any need for anyone to “play up” the issue.
Muhyiddin also expressed concern over the recent arrest of sacked Umno leader Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma). Is the act of making reports to foreign enforcement bodies about the transactions made by a private company an act of terrorism? I don’t think so.
