Yesterday, on 6th October, Microsoft launched the much anticipated Lumia 950 and Lumia 950XL.

With the battery backup of around 12 hours, this new gadget has a 7.7 mm thick detachable screen while it only weighs 1.6 pounds.

The biggest difference between the two devices is the hinge on the Surface Book, which allows the screen to be rotated all the way back to lie flat on the keyboard.

Microsoft even promises that the new iteration in its Surface Pro line is “twice as powerful” than a MacBook Air, without really specifying which configuration of the Surface Pro 4 since it comes in three models with different processors: the Intel Core M3, i5 and i7.

The release of the Surface Pro 4 comes as Apple and Google recently unveiled their latest entries into the 2-in-1 device category, with the iPad Pro and the Google Pixel C.

Both devices will come out later this month.

Microsoft also announced updates to its HoloLens headset, revealing that a developer’s kit will be available in the first quarter of 2016 for $3000.

Microsoft’s Windows operating system has a tiny market share compared with Google Inc.’s Android and Apple’s iOS for iPhones. It effectively utilizes all the bells and whistles of Windows 10.

Over the past few years, Microsoft has said that its Surface tablets would replace traditional laptops, but now the company has a backup product – just in case.

Microsoft is opening up more Windows. Prices on the Microsoft Store start at £499.99 for the 5.2-inch screen 950 and £549.99 for the 5.7-inch 950 XL. Microsoft hasn’t announced the dock’s price.
