Jose Mourinho: Alex Ferguson knew I didn’t want Manchester United job
David Beckham has said that his former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson would be excited to shout at the players when the duo meet in a Unicef charity match at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese says he was never close to getting the job after making his intentions clear to the Scot that his sights were firmly fixed on regaining the Stamford Bridge hot seat.
Ferguson, speaking in a BBC documentary, said Giggs could have worked under him for a few years and taken over from him when he made a decision to step down.
“He did not propose anything because we were very open with each other and knew I wanted to leave Real Madrid throughout the season and come back to Chelsea”, Mourinho said. I could hear the laughter coming from the caddies’ room so I knew it was going well. “I was scared so when finally he informed the media about this decision it was a sense of relief”, he said.
Ferguson played an integral role in bringing through that famous batch of Manchester United academy products and moulding them into title winners.
“I want the world where children can grow up safe from violence, free from poverty and protected from preventable diseases”.
“We picked the right man”.
“I’d never worked with superstars so dealing with the likes of Rory McIlroy and how he was going to feel in that situation was alien to me”.
“I think it’s important that we have that togetherness that we had back in the day, that all Manchester United teams have had. I bet his sales went down!”
But after admitting that Ferguson still has a “hold” over the players he managed, Beckham joked that the pair could even recreate the flying boot incident next month. In his interview with the BBC, the United fan favourite and Real Madrid superstar claimed that it was “unbelievable but it was good – because we learn.”
Former fan favourite Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed how Sir Alex Ferguson’s feared hairdryer treatment helped to inspire players and that it was a positive part of Ferguson’s arsenal. “I am delighted that my friend Zizou will join me in leading two teams, full of our friends and teammates, at the best stadium in the world”, the 40-year-old said in a statement.
“The manager has always appreciated what I have done outside the game”.
