Former Packers Head Coach Lindy Infante, who led the team during the 1988-91 seasons, passed away this morning.

Infante’s wife, Stephanie, told The Associated Press that he died in St. Augustine after a lengthy illness. He garnered Coach of the Year honors in 1989 after the team finished with a 10-6 record. He returned as a head coach in 1996 with the Colts and took the team to the playoffs in his first season, but he was sacked after going 3-13 in his second season.
In addition to the Packers, Infante coached the Indianapolis Colts, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants.
The organization hailed the Infantes for their presence in the community.
Former Packers defensive back LeRoy Butler was informed of Infante’s death on Thursday.
Infante got the job in Green Bay after Michigan State coach George Perles initially accepted, then backed out.

Lindy Infante is best known for his National Football League coaching success, but his time with the Florida Gators set the tone for his career. He spent almost two decades as an assistant coach on both college and professional staffs before getting his first head coaching gig with the Jacksonville Bulls of the USFL in 1984.
