UPDATE: Fisher left open the possibility of legal action while speaking with reporters before the Knicks’ exhibition Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden (per The Wall Street Journal).

New York Knicks coach Derek Fisher might be enjoying a romantic spree, but was on the receiving end of a threat from Matt Barnes for dating his former wife.

Matt Barnes reportedly attacked Derek Fisher after hearing he is in a relationship with his ex-wife Gloria Govan.

Matt was tipped off by his twin sons, Carter and Isaiah, who told him that Derek was at their home. The source added, “Barnes was in Santa Barbara [at Memphis Grizzlies training camp] and heard that Fisher was in his house”.

Even though the altercation was believed to be physical, the Knicks media didn’t see any traces on Fisher that would suggest a fight.

An National Basketball Association spokesman said it would be premature for him to comment on the incident and the Grizzlies released a statement saying they were gathering information on the reports. “No. I live 15 minutes away and I was going over to check on my kids because they seemed uncomfortable”.

We’re told Rihanna’s secret lover was so livid over Fischer’s visit that he drove two hours from practice in Santa Barbara to Los Angeles to confront the 41-year-old coach.

“What happened Saturday is a personal matter at this point”, Grizzlies forward Matt Barnes said. Fisher filed to divorce his wife of 10 years, Candace, in March, and has reportedly been dating Govan for a few months.

Fisher declined further comment, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Fisher was asked about that perception, and whether it might be a bit more hard to preach the importance of professionalism to his players following the incident.
