GM to recall 31685 SUVs in North America
The Detroit automaker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration it will recall 29,295 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia SUVs in the USA because the front windshield wiper motor may overheat when in use because of a manufacturing defect.

General Motors is telling owners of several 2016 vehicles that if they use their windshield wipers, the wiper motors could catch fire.
The problem was discovered at an assembly plant near Lansing, where GM manufactures its SUVs, and was reported on September 21 by a quality manager at the plant.
Dealers will replace faulty wiper motor covers that allow a few electrical terminals to come in contact with each other.
The vehicles were manufactured August 18, 2015 to September 24, 2015.

Should that happen, the motor cover may melt, smoke, or catch fire. “Also, in the unfortunate event that fix parts are not available, your dealer will arrange to place you into a rental auto, at no charge, until the parts needed to fix your vehicle become available”. Further, GM says owners should not drive in the rain or do anything that would cause the wipers to be activated. About 6,400 were sold, and the remaining recalled vehicles were being held at dealerships until repairs are made.
