Internally decapitated toddler undergoes ‘miracle’ surgery
The 16-month-old toddler was travelling in a car with his mother and nine-year-old sister when they collided with another vehicle at 70mph on September 15.

Jaxon was airlifted from the site of the car crash to a hospital in Brisbane, Australia where he was treated. Then, the surgeon reattached his vertebrae by using a tiny piece of wire, and used a piece of Jaxon’s rib to attach the two vertebrae back together.
Describing the accident, she said that “the second I pulled him out, I knew that his neck was broken”. “A lot of children wouldn’t survive that injury in the first place and if they did and they were resuscitated they may never move or breathe again”, Askin said. His sister suffered abdominal injuries.
“It is probably a severe spinal injury with no serious trauma to blood vessels or the spinal cord itself”, Dr. Brett Belchetz, a physician from Toronto, told.
Jaxon will need to continue wearing a “halo” neck brace for at least a couple months as his spine healed, but he seems to be taking it in his stride.
Channel Seven confirmed the Taylor family have launched an online petition to campaign for harsher penalties for reckless drivers in Australia, which has already received thousands of signatures.
Jaxon Taylor is out of a Brisbane health care centre after operating specialists effectiively reattached his head for his cut off backbone. However, the doctors were able to successfully complete the surgery, repairing his internal decapitation, and now Jaxon is showing major improvements.
Here’s hoping Jaxon enjoys a smooth recovery from his horrific accident that thankfully has a happy, and seemingly miraculous, ending.

And after just less than a month in hospital, Jaxon has been discharged.
