Previewing Colts at Texans: Who has the edge

Luck told reporters he is not giving any “credence” to a report that he is dealing with a subluxation of his throwing shoulder and said he is preparing to start against Houston. After three games, he has seven catches for 53 yards.

“We try to make decisions in the best interest of the player and in the best interest of the team“, O’Brien said.

After missing the first start of his career last Sunday during the Colts 16-13 overtime win over the Jacksonville Jaguars due to a shoulder injury, Colts’ star quarterback Andrew Luck is set to return.

So while it would seem that Luck is moving closer to starting against the Houston Texans on Thursday, the Colts just made another move that casts doubt on how healthy Luck really is. Arian Foster was a non-factor in his return last week, and Houston will need the running back to be a workhorse against a Colts defense that is giving up 119.5 rushing yards per game and 387.5 total yards.

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster (23) is shown on the sideline in the third quarter of their game against the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome. He had just one game without a catch with Texans but has had two in last two weeks…. He also doesn’t know what kind of reception to expect, but hopes fans remember everything he did in Houston.

THE STREAK: Few teams have dominated a division quite like the Colts, who lead the AFC South. Indianapolis has won nine AFC South titles since 2002 and its 15-game winning streak against division foes is tied for the National Football League record with the 1972-73 Dolphins. “He hasn’t played in a long time, it’s a significant injury that he had”, said head coach Bill O’Brien, via blog.chron.com. “I don’t think I’m necessarily where I would want to be today in a ideal, flawless world”. In six games against the Texans, Hilton has three 100-yard games, averaged more than 110 yards and a touchdown per game and 18.9 yards per catch. Andrew Luck further shared that he believes he had been improving his game and is now working hard to enhance his abilities. Quarterback Brian Hoyer came in for Mallett last week and threw two touchdowns in relief for the starter, although Atlanta’s defense was likely playing conservative with such a large lead. The Colts embrace them.

Last week, with Luck going easy in practice, the Colts signed backup quarterback Josh Johnson. Indy also beat New Orleans on another Thursday night telecast, the 2007 season opener, but it wasnt a short week.

For the Colts, they need to protect their returning star by increasing the speed of the game in terms of routes.
