People Magazine Speaks Out on Gun Violence
People Magazine, of all publications, just came out with an issue that includes one of those editorial messages in which the writer attempts to presume that all rational people are in full agreement about something.

Find them and read Cagle’s letter over at People. People used the number of deaths from gun violence collected by the Gun Violence Archive which is at 10,157 year to date (People says it’s 10,006).
PEOPLE.com on Thursday printed the phone numbers, email addresses and Twitter handles of every single voting member of Congress – that’s 535 lawmakers – to urge its readers to make their voices heard about gun control in the United States.
Dedicating this week’s magazine to the issue of gun violence is though, especially for a tabloid typically devoted to celebrity news.
Jess Cagle, People’s editorial director, said reaction so far has been “generally supportive”.
The policy wonks over at People magazine have chose to enter the political fray and pick a side on the gun-control debate.
“It’s so heartbreaking and infuriating to think how many times over the years we’ve done exactly this-reaching out to victims’ families and survivors of mass shootings, gathering details about the fallen”, Cagle wrote.
“These mass shootings are so shocking, and there are so many of them”, Cagle said. The magazine’s circulation is 3.5 million, and one in four readers is a mother, according to its media kit. (Those phone numbers, of course, are not hidden from the public as is.) “We need to know that our representatives in Washington, D.C., are looking for solutions and not giving up, and they need to know if we agree or disagree with their strategies”, he writes.
“Lets tell Congress to leave our guns alone and do something about the mental health care system!” said the top post.
“‘Let them know what you’re thinking.’ That’s all”.
