Ben Carson Tries to Top Himself, Blames Holocaust on Gun Control

“I have had a gun held on me when I was in a Popeyes”, the candidate told SirusXM radio host Karen Hunter, according to the Hill.

Appearing on CNN last night, Carson reiterated the claims made in his new book, A More ideal Union: What We the People Can Do to Reclaim Our Constitutional Liberties. A few have criticised President Obama for politicising the shootings after he harshly criticised Congress for not taking up gun control.

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer asked Caron to clarify.

“If there had been no gun control in Europe at that time, would 6 million Jews have been slaughtered?”

The comments drew a swift response from the Anti-Defamation League.

“The small number of personal firearms available to Germany’s Jews in 1938 could in no way have stopped the totalitarian power of the Nazi German state”, said ADL National Director Jonathan Greenblatt.

BLITZER: It was a powerful military machine, you know, the Nazis.

It’s been a bad week for the Carson campaign when it comes to guns and Nazis.

The interview came as the GOP candidate has been called to task for remarks he made following last week’s Oregon campus shooting-statements that many have characterized as insensitive-in which a few argue Carson implied victims of the mass shooting did not do enough to protect themselves and others. “Not only would I probably not cooperate with him, I would not just stand there and let him shoot me”, he said on Fox and Friends on Tuesday.

‘I would say “Hey guys, everybody attack him”.

He also miffed a few voters when he suggested that kindergarten teachers be armed.

Carson: I understand that.

Carson said Thursday the two situations were “different”. ‘I think that example is pretty clear’.

Although Dr Carson, a paediatric neurosurgeon, has no previous political experience he has developed a line in controversial statements that appeals to his party’s hardline base. ‘That’s the spin, that’s the spin’. “I would much rather go down fighting”. Noah Webster said – when he was talking about tyranny – that the people of America would never suffer tyranny because they are armed.
