The recall covers all cut, wrapped and weighed Papillon Organic Roquefort cheeses with Whole Foods market scale labels.

Whole Foods made a decision to recall the cheese after routine sampling conducted by the FDA found listeria monocytogenes in a whole, uncut wheel of the cheese.

The Papillion Organic Roquefort cheese product or service can possibly be noted due to level tag that in fact starts with PLU 029536.

“No illnesses or infections have been reported to date”, said a press release on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website. Additionally Whole Foods has opened up a specific line for any inquiries that customers may have about the recall. Moreover, it can also be present in raw milk along with food products that were made with raw milk.

The Listeria bacteria “can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems”. The incubation period for the disease runs anywhere from three to 70 days, and symptoms include fever, stiff neck, vomiting and diarrhea.
