‘You’re taking our business,’ Brisbane Uber driver allegedly told before attack
The Brisbane Magistrates Court was told Sukhcharan Singh placed an order with the Uber ride-sharing service on the night of the attacks, setting up an ambush in Fortitude Valley.

At the end of the video, the man says: “With that, don’t you dare drive a GrabCar or Uber taxi, there are taxi drivers out there”.
“It’s an absolutely premeditated set-up”, Sen Sgt Pearson said.
In a later press conference, he clarified that of the seven Uber and GrabCar drivers that KLCC taxi drivers caught, three were handed over to the police. The duo will face the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday charged with a string of offences including assault occasioning bodily harm, stealing and unlawful entry of a vehicle.
Both have lived in Australia for close to a decade.
The charges came after rising frustrations among taxi drivers that the app-based vehicle service is operating illegally in Queensland.
Bal and Singh were granted bail on condition they surrender their passports, stay away from their alleged victims and not request or travel in an Uber auto.
In another report in The Star Online, Uber drivers defended their actions, saying they, just like everyone else, only wanted to earn a decent living.

It was reported earlier today that taxi drivers around KLCC were arresting Uber and GrabCar drivers who picked up and dropped off riders in their area.
