High School QB Suspended for Inappropriately Touching Center During Snap

It’s the question every football fan has asked himself – just what exactly goes on up there between a quarterback and a center when the ball is being hiked?

The incident occurred while Moore was taking a snap during practice.

‘I was, like, moving my hands and I touched him and he started laughing, ‘ Moore said as he recalled the incident.

Moore told the Statesman Journal that the center had instructed him on how to receive the snap and said “he wanted me to go way up there [with my hands] and it felt very uncomfortable”. I guess I tickled him. I mean, he laughed, so I guess so. “That’s kind of weird”.

Garrett Moore – a quarterback on the West Salem High School (OR) freshman football team – has been suspended three games for “inappropriately touching” another player while taking snaps under center in practice.

After the awkward play, the player at center – who had shoved Moore to the ground earlier in the practice – moved to a position on the defense. A written notice says it’s for inappropriately touching another student during practice.

“He acted like he was giving me a hug and he kneed me in my crotch”, Moore told the paper.

By Tuesday, Moore says he was being escorted into the vice principal’s office by a security guard. The player he touched was none other than the center, the kid snapping him the ball. I said, I didn’t tickle him.

A letter signed by Vice Principal Jim Miller sites sexual harassment as the reason for Moore’s suspension. “I’m trying to get my hands in there and I can’t really see what I’m doing”.

Moore’s mother, Tamara Moore, said the incident “sounds absolutely absurd” and that she plans to appeal the suspension.
