California Governor To Sign Aggressive Climate Change Bill
The governor’s office said the legislation expanding the Air Resources Board, AB 1288, will ensure the agency “is more representative of the state’s diversity and those most impacted by pollution”.

So far, the state hasn’t seen blackouts or other major disruptions as it has ramped up renewable energy considerably since former state Sen. The goals were previously laid out during Brown’s inaugural address. In an example cited by the Los Angeles Times, a hotel maid can now compare her salary to that of a janitor who cleans conference rooms.
“We are extremely happy that Governor Brown is signing SB 350, and grateful for Senator Kevin De Leon’s leadership”, said Physicians for Social Responsibility-Los Angeles (PSR-LA) Executive Director Martha Dina Argüello.
“The goal is clear, and California is in the forefront”, Brown said.
“We are confident that Californians are ready to increase our use of renewable energy and make our homes and businesses even more energy efficient”, said Robert Weisenmiller, CEC chairman.
The Catholic Church and advocates for people with disabilities say measures like California’s legalize premature suicide and put terminally ill patients at risk for coerced death.
In California, solar, geothermal, biomass and wind are growing sources of energy, and they favored the measure taken by the government.
The signed legislation states that it is mandatory that half of the state’s electricity must come from renewable energy sources by the time 2030 comes around. A few projects have been criticized for their outsized impact on natural resources – i.e. plant and animal habitats.
Of course, climate change itself has adverse effects on wildlife.
“California is often known for leading the way and I feel that today we are embarking on a new chapter of focusing attention on why women need to be paid equally to men”, she said. “It’s important for our community, our economy, and the environment”.
Landwise, California is the United States third largest state, following Alaska and Texas. Following his landslide re-election, the septuagenarian governor has been on fire, from pushing the state to find new ways to conserve water to setting new climate change goals for California. Many moderate Democrats also expressed concern that the petroleum-reduction mandate would hurt California’s working-class residents.
Last year, however, E3, a respected energy consulting firm in San Francisco, concluded in a study funded by PG&E and other utilities that a 50 percent renewable energy standard would raise utility bills between 9 and 23 percent by 2030, beyond where they would be if the existing 33 percent standard were left in place.

The state’s approach to immigration reform has become so comprehensive that Karthick Ramakrishnan, associate dean of the school of Public Policy at the University of California in Riverside, has dubbed it “the California Package”.
