Shots rang out at Northern Arizona University around 1:20 Friday morning in a dorm parking lot.

San Diego 6 has confirmed that Prato graduated from Westview High School and still has family that resides in San Diego.

He worked as a cashier at the Puma outlet store in Castle Rock selling shoes and apparel during the summer after graduating high school.

The incident occurred outside Mountainview Hall dormitory, but authorities said they could not immediately say what led up to the confrontation.
“I can confirm that there was a shooting on our campus this morning”.
The suspected shooter, identified by police as 18-year-old Steven Jones, was in custody, said university police Chief JT Fowler.
The three victims were being treated at Flagstaff Medical Center, according to a statement from the university.
Jones told police that he used a flashlight affixed to the gun to illuminate the area before firing. The deceased student is Colin Brough, according to the paper. They are listed in stable condition at the hospital.
The victims were all members of the Delta Chi fraternity, the organization said in a statement. “I understand that on this campus in certain circumstances that is not allowed”, he said, adding: “These shooters deliberately choose a place where they know no one can defend themselves, where they know no one is armed”. Jones said that after he opened fire, he tried to help one of the victims he had shot.

“How am I supposed to feel safe where I’m learning”, Gonzalez said. “Sadly, his best friend was killed in front of him”. He was just an all-around good guy. “You can not carry it around on campus”, Fowler said. “It’s just ugly and tragic and not fair”, said Ronan Kirwan. “We’re all leaning on each other”.
Friends stopped at his family’s home in Castle Rock to drop off cards and flowers Friday afternoon, saying he was well-known and loved in the community.
“It’s really sad”, Montoya said.
“It’s insane. You don’t think this stuff happens. When I took his pictures, he was a really easy-going, fun kid”.
Brough was pursuing a degree in business marketing, he wrote on the LinkedIn page.
