A UCLA football player has been arrested on suspicion of raping a fellow student at an off-campus party, the Los Angeles police said Friday.

He had punted five times for UCLA during the 2015 season, but Bruins head coach Jim Mora suspended him from all team activities following the news of his arrest. The two left together later that same evening to go to her house. She alleges she fell asleep and awoke to Searl sexually assaulting her.

Bail was set at $300,000, and Searl was released late Thursday night, according to the sheriff’s department.

The article says that Searl is accused of raping a woman in 2014 and that the arrest was the result of a joint LAPD and UCPD investigation. He is scheduled to appear in Los Angeles Superior Court on October 29.

According to investigators, Searl allegedly met the accuser at an off-campus party in Westwood in October 2014 and accompanied her to a nearby residence. “Adam has been suspended from the team indefinitely while the legal process runs its course”.

Searl played four years at Irvine High School before attending UCLA.

Mora said he was unable to discuss the case further due to the ongoing investigation. Last season, he punted 11 times, averaging 39.1 yards.
