Bushfires in Victoria expand as Sidonia, Pastoria and Baynton East are threatened
An emergency warning remains in place for Benloch and Nulla Vale, north of Lancefield, where residents of the Burke and Wills Track, Lancefield-Tooborac Road and Baynton Road are advised to seek shelter now.

The CFA said 200 homes are in the fire-danger zone, with crews actively working to protect about a dozen.
The Lancefield pub has shut its doors and parents were called to pick up children from school as the 600 hectare blaze sent embers up to 2km ahead of the fire front.
“The change will cause a drop somewhere in the order of 10 degrees, which will bring relief to the general public but if you’re on the fire ground a major change in wind direction is a very unsafe scenario”, CFA State Response Commander Gil Marshall told Today on Tuesday.
Firefighters in Queensland are having trouble controlling a large, fast moving bushfire that may threaten property at Ballard, north of Toowoomba.
Emergency warnings have been downgraded to “watch and act” for the 4,000-hectare bushfire, which was threatening the Benloch area on Thursday morning.
Mr Murphy said: “It won’t be an easy day but by no means will it be as hard as yesterday was”.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews says residents have a right to be angry about the fire.
Firefighters were able to control the blaze before it reached a nearby steel plant, and police are treating that fire as suspicious.
It is expected to impact on the Ballard community and there is a chance that a few property may be lost.
Firefighters said they were gaining control of a bushfire south of Bredbo in southern New South Wales, that could spread quickly if it got into fields of dry weeds.
District technical coordinator for Cooma NSW RFS Ailish Germain said there was no threat to any homes or farms at this stage.
EXTREME spring heat and wind gusts up to 100km/h herald an early start to Victoria’s bushfire season, fire authorities fear.
Unable to return home, Tom Barnes is one of many waiting to see if their homes survived.

“It’s such a waste of resources, and such an unnecessary event, it should never have happened”, she told Neil Mitchell.
