Giants WR Victor Cruz targeting Week 6 return from calf injury
Cruz received a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection in his calf a week ago Thursday, and doctors told him it would be 10 full days before it set in. He has since had a PRP injection in the calf to try to speed up the healing process.

“It feels stronger, I don’t feel that initial pain anymore”, Cruz said. When I would walk, I’d feel it a little bit. Every week I’m trying to gauge it and see how it feels and take steps and wake up in the morning and do the old calf-raise test in bed, stuff like that. So those are all good signs.
“I’m hopeful just because I want to be out there with my team”, Kennard said.
Now considered “day-to-day”, Cruz will be re-examined on Monday which, ironically, is exactly one-year to the day that he suffered a torn patellar tendon against the Philadelphia Eagles. “Obviously, emotionally more than mentally, because mentally I can hone into my injury and hone into the rehab process”. But Cruz’s main focus is getting back on the field.
The Giants won’t have wide receiver Victor Cruz in the lineup against the 49ers on Sunday night and they should have a better idea of when he’ll be able to make his first appearance of the 2015 season next week. “So the irony is definitely setting in”, Cruz said.
“It’s nearly been a year and Philly’s coming up around the corner as well”.
Until Monday, Cruz said he will continue to do pool workouts and exercises to keep his conditioning up.
“On a scale of 1-to-10, I probably went down to a 7-and-a-half, 8 (now) as opposed to the maybe 9-and-a-half (I was at) when I was testing it out (last week)”, Cruz said.
“I’m not far away”, Cruz said. I don’t feel that anymore.

Cruz hasn’t practiced since August 17 when he pulled his left calf muscle.
