PM breaks silence on Dadri, backs President’s advice on diversity, tolerance
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office was today briefed on the mob killing of a Muslim man in Uttar Pradesh last week over rumours that he had beef in his house. “Why did you take oath on the constitution”, he said and demanded the SP chief to respond.

The Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh had failed to contain such incidents and was now trying to shirk its responsibility, BJP leader Vijay Bahadur Pathak said. Home Ministry has asked all the state governments to take strictest action against those who attempt to weaken the secular fabric by exploiting religious emotions, expressing its concern over the communal incidents like Dadri in other places. “I may change my plan to meet the United Nations secretary general if the Badshah (king) of the country gives an assurance to us that the Muslims would be protected”, he said.
“It seems that Azam Khan is a mentally retarded man”.
The Uttar Pradesh Minister had earlier sought the UN’s intervention to look into the miseries of minorities in India amidst outcry over lynching of 52-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq in Dadri.
While the report’s contents were not made public, sources said, the report details how the incident panned out after announcements made from a loudspeaker in a nearby temple that Mohammed Akhlaq and his family were consuming beef and had even stocked it. The cruel mindset of Hindutva was once again reflected in Bisara village of Dadri in western Uttar Pradesh just 50 Kms away from New Delhi.
When asked as to why the central government was not banning beef, he said that let the state government send a proposal in this regard.
On Dadri incident, Adityanath said, “Samajwadi Party leader’s statement of taking Dadri matter to the United Nations is shameful”.

Muhammad Akhlaq’s son Sartaj, who works in IAF, has appealed against the politicisation of his father’s death. The incident has sparked outrage in the country, with parties attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party alleging that the killing was a result of its “politics of hatred”.
