The Arizona Coyotes ‘ most prized prospect will skate on the first line with Antoine Vermette and Mikkel Boedker.
“The last thing we want to do is put all the pressure on Max Domi and Anthony Duclair to carry us and score all these goals”, he said.
No one shined brighter than Domi, the son of former National Hockey League enforcer Tie Domi.
“The kid is a special kid”, Smith said.
Tippett was quick to point out the numerous turnovers the Coyotes committed through the first period and a half, and all the work they still have to do, but that’s a coach talking.
Throughout the last three non-playoff seasons, general manager Don Maloney and co-owner Anthony LeBlanc promised that better days were ahead.
Tyler Toffoli scored for Los Angeles, which allowed nine straight goals after scoring on the first shot of their season. Goaltender Jonathan Quick made 18 saves in a losing effort.
“He didn’t play very well tonight, did he?” Should no teams choose to claim the 6 foot 8 giant, the Coyotes will have two options; they can reassign him to any AHL affiliate – likely their own, the Springfield Falcons – or play him in up to ten games before assigning him without requiring a second waiver process. “We had a lot of good chances in around the net, but I don’t think they generated a whole lot on their own”, Kings captain Dustin Brown said.
Arizona extended its lead to 2-0 on a goal by defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson at 19:12 of the first period.
After the game, Domi snapped a quick photo with the puck and said he planned to give the memento to his mom. The Coyotes open their home schedule Saturday night at the Gila River Arena against the Pittsburgh Penguins….

Although the young players like Rieder, with a goal and an assist played well, Mike Smith had a stellar night.
