Aaron Ward arrested for domestic assault, suspended from TSN

The News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C., reported that Ward assaulted his wife “by pushing her” and that he interfered with emergency communications “by taking” her phone, according to a magistrate’s order.

Former Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Aaron Ward was arrested in Cary on Friday and charged with assault on a female, a misdemeanor, after an altercation with his wife. WRAL also reports that due to the nature of the charges, Ward will spend a mandatory 48 hours in the Wake County jail.

TSN has said there will be a statement coming on Ward; we’ll update with it when it’s released.

Captain Don Hamilton with the Cary Police Department said police arrested Ward after responding to a house Friday for a call regarding a domestic assault.

TSN told Yahoo Sports Ward will be suspended indefinitely.

Aaron Ward is a veteran of 831 National Hockey League regular season games and a three-time Stanley Cup champion.

He also played for the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins and Anaheim Ducks. “As a result, Aaron Ward will not appear on-air until further notice”.
