Equipment and armaments slated to be included in the parade will be mainly domestic and in active service, many of which will be having their first public outing, Qu said, adding preparations for the parade adhere to the principles of pragmatism, frugality and efficiency.

President Xi Jinping and other leaders will attend the ceremony on September 3 to mark the end of the war following Japan’s invasion of China.

Several Kuomintang (KMT) veterans have also been invited to take part in the military parade.

However, he didn’t say whether the invitations would be made to KMT veterans now based in Taiwan, or ex- KMT soldiers that later switched allegiance and sided with the Communist forces.

“The invitation to foreign militaries showed the wish of China and all other peoples to safeguard world peace”, he said.

Japan signed the formal surrender on September 2, 1945, and China celebrated its victory the following day.

It will be the first time that China has held a parade to commemorate the event.

China will also hold a series of commemorative events in conjunction with the anniversary, including an exhibition, an academic symposium and memorial ceremonies.

China defeated the Japanese invaders killing more than 1.5 million Japanese troops, which coordinated with the allies’ campaigns in the European and Pacific arenas.

He said some countries had intentionally belittled the CPC’s role in fighting the Japanese through guerrilla warfare.

China has every reason to use the worldwide practice to highlight its pains and contributions in the World War II.
