Bastian Schweinsteiger’s injury not expected to be long-term issue

According to Simon Jones of the MailOnline, the 31-year-old picked up the problem in Germany’s final training session before the clash with the Republic on Thursday.

Hours after Roy Hodgson revealed that Michael Carrick had suffered a slight tightening of his groin while warming up for the Estonia game, Joachim Low has now given the Red Devils’ faithfuls another reason to moan about as he announced the sidelining of Bastian Schweinsteiger.

“For Schweinsteiger I will need to see”, he told reporters. “The medical staff said two or three days’ rest.”

Yesterday, the new Manchester United midfielder took time out before squad training in the Aviva Stadium to meet the young man’s family.

“We have been waiting for his [Rooney] ankle injury to settle down”, the England manager is quoted as saying by ManUtd.com.

Tobias Schweinsteiger is enjoying watching his brother Bastian Schweinsteiger turning out in a Manchester United shirt this season.

“We have grown up here and it’s a bit different – a lot of us probably played GAA as kids, so we understand the knocks and bumps come”.

“But at the end of the day, if you are given an opportunity to play against him, I have got to get the better of him. I am sure he is looking forward to Sir Bobby presenting him with his golden boot”.
