“All of our guys are competitors”, said Alain Vigneault, who earned his 100th win as the Rangers’ coach. “We talked about weathering the storm a little bit that first 10 minutes”, he said. The native of Sweden tied Friday’s contest with 2:36 remaining and triggered a three-goal outburst in 1:17 which gave New York a 4-2 victory in Columbus’ home opener.

Jared Boll will be in the Columbus Blue Jackets ‘ lineup for Friday’s tilt against the Rangers, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.

“It wasn’t ideal. But we did win two games against tough teams in their home openers”.

“Oscar’s goal lifted us”, said center Derek Stepan (assist), who played an inspired game, . “It’s something we can utilize and do a better job of”.

“You want it to be a building where you feel confident”, Lundqvist said. “I was pretty exhausted halfway through the game, so I tried to conserve energy whenever I could”.

The Rangers wound up shooting themselves in the foot later on in the third period as Ryan McDonagh took a delay of game penalty. The Rangers had one man-advantage, the first of the match. “They are a good hockey team and are going to generate their opportunities”. Kevin Hayes, who looks pretty comfortable on the right, gave the Blueshirts a 3-2 lead when his fling from an impossible angle on the right unaccountably slipped through Bobrovsky. Shortly after, Rangers winger Kevin Hayes picked up the puck nearly parallel with the Blue Jackets net and fired a prayer at goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. But as now, Lundqvist will start both games, with AV citing the six days off between the last pre-season game and Wednesday’s regular season opener as a reason.
