LCD Soundsystem May or May Not Be Reuniting in 2016
On April 2, 2011 LCD Soundsystem ended a ten-year career with a sold-out, farewell concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City. A “well-placed source” apparently told Billboard that the band is “definitely reuniting”, which, basically, means that someone is trolling, and, accordingly, that someone is being trolled in turn. The whole thing was filmed, too, for the great rock doc Shut Up and Play the Hits. On Thursday, the website effect of Sound reported James Murphy and Co. were planning to perform several “high profile music festivals in the United States and UK”. Now, effect of Sound is reporting that, like almost every other band anyone has ever liked with irrational fervor, LCD Soundsystem is getting back together for a few festival shows.

A rep for LCD Soundsystem’s label wrote a series of scathing tweets refuting rumors that the group was eyeing a 2016 reunion, after reports surfaced online suggesting it was a possibility. “LCD Soundsystem is not reuniting at Coachella next year”, says DFA Records label manager Kris Petersen.

Representatives for Murphy have declined to comment to SPIN.
