Falcons downplay White’s complaints about lack of passes

Roddy White has had a slow start to the 2015 National Football League season for the Atlanta Falcons, leading to speculation that the wide receiver could be traded.

While the soon-to-be 34-year-old receiver has shown a few deteriorating skills in recent seasons, it’s not like he’s fallen back on the Falcons depth chart under first-year head coach Dan Quinn. The Redskins defense allows 19.8 points and 288 yards per game with nine sacks and three fumble recoveries.

Atlanta Falcons Roddy White and Jonathan Babineaux share a laugh on…

Everyone suspected that the game between the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans would be one to watch. It was one of the first times that the Saints have really been able to get Spiller “out in space”, where he can take advantage of his speed. The Falcons win by using a lot of offense and hope for just enough defense. At the time of the initial comments, coach Dan Quinn said he “wouldn’t want it any other way in terms of the mindset and the attitude” and the topic came up during his Wednesday media session as well.

Quinn’s halftime talk to the team was nothing like last week’s when Atlanta trailed by 11 at Dallas and had to rally in the fourth quarter for the third straight week.

“I know that I’m going to get my chances because of how people are going to play us”, White said. First quarter, we are just kind of getting started together.

Turnover margin was one of Quinn’s big themes at the start of training camp, and he will repeat it again this week when the Falcons (4-0) host Washington (2-2).

“What are the things you want to improve upon?”

“Right now, we are rocking and rolling”, White said.

“That’s the real challenge as we go through it, can we keep finding small ways to improve”. The fact that the team has pulled the starter twice is alarming but at the same token, this time it was late in the game and in my opinion, a very understandable decision by coach O’Brien. Falcons president Rich McKay recently cited during a radio interview that Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff found players to fit the new schemes.

The Atlanta Falcons have built their offense around Julio Jones and Matt Ryan’s progressions haven’t led him to White. Pairing Reed with the big bodies upfront that the Falcons already have will make them an extremely tough team to run against in the coming weeks.

I want this team to keep proving doubters wrong and make the entire Atlanta region believers in this football team.

Jones is having another huge season with 38 catches for 478 yards and four TDs, while running back Devonta Freeman (17 catches, 198 yards) has developed into a significant threat out of the backfield. “Football is a game to me”.
