Judge Rejects NVIDIA’s Patent Infringement Case Against Samsung And Qualcomm
“We remain confident in our case”, Nvidia spokesman Hector Marinez said. “We now intend to ask the full commission…to review this initial determination and to confirm the previous judgment of the U.S. Patent Office – that the third patent is valid”, it added. “If they agree, the ITC would issue an order that would preclude Samsung from importing into the USA infringing Samsung mobile devices and smart TVs”.

“We believe our patents are valid and have been infringed”, Nvidia said in a blog post published Friday.
Nvidia is trying to branch out into technology licensing, looking for a greater return on in its investments in graphics chip research and design.
According to a spokesperson for Nvidia, the company will not give up on its efforts to prove that Samsung illegally used their technology.
A few time ago, Nvidia filed a class action law suit against Samsung for, eh, basically inventing the (modern 3D) GPU and using it without their permission.
Samsung didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. NVIDIA developed the first graphics processing chip, and started marketing it back in 1999.
Initial evidence looked like things could tip in NVIDIA’s favor, too, with the company declaring an early victory after Justice Pender ruled in favor of its construction of the patent claims. It is worth noting that the ruling in question is under review by the full commission and subject to revision – with the final decision on the dispute arriving in February.

Nvidia alleged the companies infringed its patents with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors and Samsung’s Exynos processors and was seeking to prevent the import of several Samsung products, including its Galaxy smartphones and tablets.
Past counter attacks from Samsung have seen the giant file a patent against Nvidia and attempting to block its graphic cards as well as suing Velocity Micro, a customer of green, which was really unfortunate because fledgling silicon valley companies really don’t more on their plate right now.

A CNET report said, “Companies have tended to file lawsuits with the ITC to speed up the process of addressing the dispute”. It countersued Nvidia last November in federal court in Virginia, also alleging patent infringement.
