Russian Federation Will Sue Ukraine If it Fails to Repay Debt
Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and his Ukrainian counterpart Natalie Jaresko have failed to agree on the restructuring of Ukraine’s debt to Russia, which amounts to $3 billion.

In August, Jaresko announced that Kiev had reached an agreement with its private sector creditors to restructure $18 billion of its debt.
The official added that the Kremlin had held no internal discussions on restructuring Ukraine’s debt.
Siluanov said Russian Federation will insist on full repayment in December of a $3 billion Eurobond that Kyiv sold Moscow in late 2013 when former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych was still in power. “One needs to meet, of course, talk, that is always correct and beneficial”, Siluanov told reporters on the sidelines of an worldwide Monetary Fund meeting in Lima, Peru.
Nadezhda Savchenko, a Ukrainian pilot who served in a volunteer battalion fighting alongside government troops against Russia-backed rebels, says she was kidnapped by Russians after she was captured by the rebels in June 2014.
Russia may pursue Ukraine through court if Kiev fails to repay its outstanding 3-billion dollars debt obligations on time, a high-ranking Russian government source said Friday.

“Colleagues from the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance said that they had no such money in the budget and invited us to participate in the restructuring, together with commercial lenders”, Siluanov said.
