Meet Shabani, the hunky gorilla who has become an internet sensation capturing the heart of hundreds. Is he that much sexier than an average-looking gorilla?
“I went to Higashiyama Zoo”.
While chest-thumping ferocity is normally associated with the gorilla, what caught the Japanese imagination is rather different.
Shabani, an 18-year-old silverback weighing around 180 kg, has become a star attraction, striking hot poses the movie model in Zoolander would be proud of. No one’s swooning in front of Shabani’s cage yet, but women are referring to their visits as a “fun holiday” and making much ado about his “flirtatious glances”.
Even with all the attention, Shabani has managed to keep grounded.
Nagoya, Japan- Shabani was born and raised in Australia and eventually was sent to a zoo in Japan. “There was a video a couple of years ago of him tightrope walking at the zoo in Japan”, Fahy said.

The gorilla has exploded all over social media as well as people cannot seem to get enough of his chiseled back and furry body. Shabani the gorilla, who grew up in an Australian zoo and now lives in Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya, has attracted a large following of admirers, according to zoo officials. His arms are big enough to protect you from harm, and his mighty buttocks look as if they could crack Brazil nuts.
