Designed and manufactured by Irani experts, the missile, named “Emad”, “is Iran’s first long-range missile that can be guided and controlled until hitting the target”, Dehghan said.

Dehghan said the weapon would be deployed to missile units in the “near future”.

When Tehran announced in February previous year that it had successfully test-fired a laser-guided surface-to-surface and air-to-surface missile, and a long-range ballistic missile capable of carrying multiple warheads, the Pentagon spokesman at the time, Adm. John Kirby, described the missile program as “a unsafe threat to region”. We will decisively follow our defense program objectives and expand our missile capabilities.

Under worldwide restrictions, Iran has used domestic talents to improve its military power, frequently unveiling new products.

General Dehghan marked this event as a great technological advancement in Iran’s military capabilities.
