Former Irish Banker At Center Of Banking Scandal Arrested In Massachusetts
Christina Diorio-Sterling, a spokeswoman for the US Attorney’s Office, told WBZ-TV Drumm will remain in custody until his hearing in federal court in Boston on Tuesday. He then fled to the United States in 2009 while facing an investigation by Irish authorities.

There had been speculation tonight that the disgraced bank boss had been arrested by police at Brookline Police Department in Massachusetts ahead of a court appearance.
Drumm’s attorneys could not be reached for comment. He will appear at the US District Court in the John Joseph Moakley US Courthouse in the same building where Boston gangster James “Whitey” Bulger and the Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were tried.
Drumm filed for bankruptcy in Massachusetts in 2010, when he was millions of dollars in debt.
The 48-year-old has also been at the centre of a controversial bankruptcy process in the USA, where he moved to from Ireland after leaving Anglo in 2008.
Irish national broadcaster RTE reported in January that Ireland had sent an extradition file to the USA government, outlining charges to be prepared against Drumm by the Director of Public Prosecution on up to 30 different offenses. According to reports in Irish media in July, he refused to return to Ireland to provide an in-person statement to the inquiry, instead offering to make a videotaped statement.
