Mental Health Awareness Week Is October 4-10
“To make dignity in mental health a reality requires every member of society to work together and make mental health visible, not something to be ashamed of”, Kadiri said, adding, “The voice of people with mental health difficulties needs to be heard”. “By raising awareness and working to eliminate stigma, I’m hopeful that more people will be comfortable accessing treatment and sharing their stories”. At Conservative Party Conference this week, I chaired a meeting on the connectivity between mental health professionals as well as attending a discussion with organisations such as Mind, which I am meeting with shortly, and which does a great job in supporting local people with mental health issues.

Being a “taboo” subject made dealing with mental health so much harder for those affected.
“What we see instead is that people admitted to in-patient facilities throughout all countries in the world are exposed to violence, sexual abuse”, she said.
A good starting point in trying to improve your mental health can be adopting the Five Ways to Wellbeing, sometimes known as Take 5.
Health Minister Jonathan Coleman says mental health awareness week is a timely reminder of the support people can give each other and the health services available.
